Creating Dynamic Banner Ads and Campaigns

This feature is replacing our legacy dynamic creative and it is currently in beta.

Before creating your responsive Dynamic Banner ads, make sure you've first imported your product feed and modified your tracking tag to support dynamic ads.

Create a Dynamic Banner Ad

To create your Dynamic Banner Ad, from your Dashboard, click on Manage-> Create Ad.

Select Dynamic Banner.

Required Fields

Next, select and input the required fields for your ad:

Ad Name: The name of your ad in SharpSpring Ads. Give your ad a descriptive, memorable name.

Final URL: The final URL is where people go after clicking a version of the ad that does not include a product (see the Fallback Ads section below for more information). It can be any page of your website and should match what your ad promotes.

Images and Logos: 4 high-quality images (2 square and 2 landscape required) used in the Logo and in the "fallback" version of the ad.

When adding images and logos, do not use the same image or logo more than one time. Using the image or logo multiple times on the same creative or future creative can result in a broken dynamic creative.
Note: Logos with a transparent background work best for these ads. We recommend using a PNG image with a transparent background for your logos.

Headline: The headline is the first line of your ad and can be up to 30 characters.

Long Headline: The long headline is the first line of your ad, and appears instead of your short headline in larger ads. Long headlines can be up to 90 characters, and may appear with or without your description. The length of the headline displayed will depend on the site it appears on. If shortened, it will end with an ellipsis.

Description: The description adds to the headline and provides additional context or details. It can be up to 90 characters, and may appear after the headline.

Business Name: The business name is the name of your business or brand. In certain layouts, it may appear in the text of your ad.

Optional Fields

Next, select and input the optional fields for your ad:

UTM Parameters: Allows you to add UTM parameters to your ad URLs (learn more). Note: If you include UTM parameters in your Google product feed, they will not be included automatically in your dynamic ad's URL. You will need to click the Add UTM parameters button here and insert the parameters you'd like to include in the ad URL.

Price Prefix: Price prefix text can be up to 10 characters and will appear before the price in some formats.

Promo Text: Promotion text can be used to provide additional information or incentive to customers and can be up to 25 characters (example: 'Use Promo Code FREE08').

Call to Action: To encourage people to act, your call to action text can show in a variety of layouts. We support the following Call to Action options.

  • Default (we will optimize the call to action based on performance)
  • Apply Now
  • Book Now
  • Contact Us

Primary Color and Accent Color: You can specify 2 colors to use with your ad across most formats. To help your ads match the look and feel of the publisher's website, custom colors may not be used in text formats.

Allow Flexible Colors: Show this ad on text ad placements, even when publisher settings may override your custom color selections.

On the right of the page you will find the ad builder. We offer a preview of your ads to help you get started. Any time you make a change to a setting, the ad previews will automatically update, letting you immediately view your changes.

Here's an example of an ad preview I designed:

Dynamic Ads

Below is a preview of possible dynamic ads that will serve when you launch a dynamic web campaign.

Fallback Ads

Below is a sample of possible fallback ads that will serve when you launch a dynamic web campaign. A fallback ad is a version of your dynamic creative that will serve a static ad to a user who has not visited a product page. The fallback ad uses the image, logo, and ad copy you used when creating your dynamic ad.

Responsive Ad Sizes

Our dynamic ads are responsive! Responsive ads automatically adjust their size, appearance, and format to fit just about any available ad space. While our ad preview displays a version of your ads as a 300x250 and 300x600, your ads can show in the following dimensions.

Desktop

  • 300x250
  • 336x280
  • 728x90
  • 970x90
  • 468x60
  • 300x600
  • 160x600
  • 250x250
  • 200x200

Mobile

  • 300x200
  • 300x50
  • 300x100
  • 250x250
  • 200x200

I'm satisfied with how these ads look, so I'm going to click Upload and submit for review at the bottom of the page:

You're done! All ads have been created for you and can be viewed under Manage-> Ads:

The rest of the campaign setup process is exactly the same as any other ad type. Just make sure to select Dynamic Web Campaign when you start:

Note: We will start tracking your product page views from the time you correctly configure the _pa.productId line in your tracking tag, moving forward. If you launch your dynamic campaign shortly after configuring your tracking tag, there will be a period of time needed for the campaign to ramp up impressions, since we've just started tracking your product page views. Don't be alarmed if you don't see a lot of impressions in the first couple of days after the campaign launches!
