Facebook Ads

Ads submitted in your account will be sent to Facebook for an audit. To pass their audit process, the ad must adhere to these guidelines:

Facebook Sidebar Ads

  • Your ad image must be a .png, .gif, or .jpg.  Facebook and Instagram do not accept animated .gifs.
  • Your ad image must be one of these sizes: 1200x628, 1080x1080, 720x1280, 1080x1920, 720x720, 600x600.
  • The title must be 25 characters or fewer.
  • The body must be 90 characters or fewer.
  • Neither the title nor body text may include a word longer than 20 characters. This includes URLs so please do not use URLs in your text.
  • The ad URL must link to your website. Linking to a store like Amazon.com or iTunes will not be approved.
  • No non-latin characters, special punctuation, misspellings, or improper grammar.
  • Your ad image must adhere to Facebook's Text Overlay rule.
  • Your ads must adhere to the Advertiser Quality Guidelines.

Facebook News Feed Ads

  • Your ad image must be a .png, .gif, or .jpg.  Facebook and Instagram do not accept animated .gifs.
  • Your ad image must be 1200x628 or larger. (We crop if your image is too big!)
  • Instagram ads support standard Facebook sizes and also 600x750.
  • The post message is optional must be 500 characters or fewer.
  • The link headline must be 55 characters or fewer.
  • The link description must be 145 characters or fewer.
  • No text fields may include a word longer than 20 characters. This includes URLs so please do not use URLs in your text.
  • The ad URL must link to your website. Linking to a store like Amazon.com or iTunes will not be approved.
  • No non-Latin characters, special punctuation, misspellings, or improper grammar.
  • Your ad image must adhere to Facebook's Text Overlay rule.
  • Your ads must adhere to the Advertiser Quality Guidelines.


Facebook also does not allow you to use a series of capital letters in your text. For example, "Buy This Product Now!" would not be approved. "Buy this product now!" would be.

Facebook restricts certain characters in the ad text as well. If your Facebook ads are not serving or are rejected, make sure you are not using any of the characters mentioned in this article.
